Silent No More: Satoshi-Era Investor Whale Moves

A long-dormant Bitcoin whale from the Satoshi-Era Investor has finally made a move. Galaxy Digital announced on Friday that it facilitated the sale of 80,000 BTC—worth over $9 billion—for a previously inactive investor.

Although the investor’s identity remains undisclosed, Galaxy stated that the massive transfer was part of an estate planning strategy.

“This is one of the largest transactions in crypto history,” Galaxy noted in its official release.

The firm didn’t reveal the exact timing or price of the deal. However, blockchain data from Lookonchain indicated that the wallet started sending BTC to Galaxy Digital between July 16 and 17.

Satoshi-Era Investor Makes Galaxy Transfers BTC Straight to Exchanges

On Friday alone, Galaxy Digital moved nearly 30,000 BTC to various crypto exchanges. Lookonchain data highlighted that the bulk transfers coincided with a sharp Bitcoin price drop—falling below $115,000.

Despite the scale of the movement, the market showed surprising resilience.

Market Absorbs $9B Sale Without Panic

While Bitcoin briefly dipped by almost 4%, the price quickly rebounded to trade above $117,000.

“Over $9 billion worth of Bitcoin hit the open market, yet the price barely moved,” said Joe Consorti from Theya.

Analyst Jason Williams echoed the sentiment, emphasizing that the market handled the sell-off smoothly. He believes Bitcoin still has room to climb.

Bitcoin Holds Strong Despite Pressure

Despite the massive sale, Bitcoin remains in a bullish trend. Just recently, BTC reached a new all-time high above $123,000.

Key factors behind this positive momentum include:

  • Continued inflows into Bitcoin spot ETFs
  • Adoption by major corporations
  • Regulatory support from the U.S. government
